Founded in 1968 by Christian Quéré, Hydro Armor is a family-owned business based in Plouezoc’h, Brittany, specializing in the design, development, and production of hydraulic thrusters. Hydro Armor designs a wide range of thrusters with power ratings from 30 to 500 kW to meet a multitude of needs. Options vary, with different versions adapted to specific requirements: tunnel bow thrusters, azimuth thrusters, 'pod' versions, azimuth and tilting versions, as well as azimuth, retractable, and tilting thrusters. With a combined maximum lifting capacity of up to 3.00 meters, these thrusters are perfectly suited for both river and maritime use, offering a complete response to propulsion needs in a wide range of contexts. Beyond its great flexibility of use, hydraulic propulsion offers excellent maneuverability for equipped vessels, superior hydrodynamic efficiency, and easy maintenance. Hydro Armor has recently developed a hybrid propulsion solution (hydraulic and electric) that contributes to preserving marine ecosystems by significantly reducing polluting emissions. To date, two vessels have been equipped. This type of innovation proves that Hydro Armor is at the forefront of the transition toward more sustainable and environmentally friendly maritime practices.
Hydro Armor also designs and manufactures a range of marine cranes primarily for shellfish farming, offering capacities from 6 to 60 T/m. Specially designed for the marine environment and BV NR 526 certified, these cranes offer numerous advantages: continuous 360° rotation with no blind spots, high slewing torque, and a control station that can be mounted on the crane or separated.
