Founded in 1968 by Christian Quéré, Hydro Armor is a family business based in Plouezoc'h, Brittany, specializing in the design, development and production of hydraulic thrusters. Recognized for its expertise in hydraulic technologies, Hydro Armor designs, develops, produces and tests complex hydraulic systems and solutions. The company's design office, testing facilities and manufacturing plant guarantee customers tailor-made products that are at the cutting edge of innovation, and particularly reliable and durable.
Hydro Armor designs a wide range of thrusters with power ratings from 30 to 500 kW to meet a multitude of needs. The options are varied, with different versions adapted to each specific requirement: tunnel bow thrusters, steerable thrusters in 'pod' version, steerable and tiltable versions and steerable, liftable and tiltable thrusters. With a combined maximum lifting capacity of up to 3.00 meters, these thrusters are ideally suited to both river and sea applications, offering a comprehensive response to propulsion needs in a wide range of contexts. In addition to its great flexibility of use, hydraulic propulsion offers excellent maneuverability of equipped boats, excellent hydrodynamic efficiency and easy maintenance. From an environmental point of view, the adoption of hydraulic solutions means greater energy efficiency and increased sustainability.
Hydro Armor has recently developed a hybrid propulsion solution (hydraulic and electric) which contributes to the preservation of marine ecosystems by significantly reducing polluting emissions. Two boats have already been equipped. This type of innovation is proof that Hydro-Armor is at the forefront of the transition to more sustainable and environmentally-friendly maritime practices.
Hydro Armor also designs and manufactures a range of marine cranes, mainly for the shellfish industry, from 6 to 60T/M. These cranes, specially designed for the marine environment and BV NR 526 approved, offer numerous advantages: they can be steered continuously over 360° without dead center, they have a high turning torque, and their control station can be placed on the crane or separate from it. The company is a unique player in a vast and rapidly expanding market, encompassing river transport of goods and people, aquaculture, shellfish farming and, for example, support vessels for offshore wind farms. Hydro Armor has won the loyalty of market players with its reliable, robust products, which can be adapted to difficult sailing conditions, even at low tide.
