Founded in 1993 by Richard Molina, the 2B Environnement Group specializes in the recycling (collection, treatment, and recovery) of infrastructure waste, such as concrete poles and Class C-treated wood sleepers, primarily from electrical, telecom, and railway networks. The company owns several recycling sites in France and works on behalf of top-tier clients. Since November 2020, the Group has also operated a subsidiary specializing in bio-waste recovery. Since September 2021, the Group has been manufacturing composite poles intended to replace recycled poles.
Capital Export acquired a stake in 2B Environnement in July 2019. Richard Molina, the company's founder, and Jérôme Chalençon, who arrived in 2017 as General Manager, based their development plan on two major strategic pillars:
Consolidate and expand the scope of longstanding activities by increasing treatment capacities and installing new crushing units;
Expand its current strategic positioning by targeting external growth opportunities, particularly in Europe.
The company leaders were impressed by Capital Export's people-centered and pragmatic approach and highly motivating strategic support. The partnership has been fruitful, as evidenced by the acquisition of BM Environnement (generating €6 million in bio-waste recovery) and the creation of a new site after winning a major tender to manufacture composite poles. These developments are important additions to the company's existing value chain. Capital Export and 2B Environnement are making progress on the other pillars, with numerous projects underway in France and internationally.
