- SME optimism: 94% of SME managers remain confident, but too focused on France.

- 2024 international expansion: 57% of managers want to strengthen their international business (+7 points).

- 2024 focus on Europe: 67% of SME managers want to expand in Europe (up 12 points), compared with 7% in the USA (down 3%) and 9% in Asia.

- Growing reservations about Asia, the world's leading economic zone, which is by far the region where French SMEs are least interested in expanding (+12 points).

- Seniority, the key to successful international expansion: 83% of SME managers explain their lack of export success by the lack of seniority in their teams.

- Olympic Games 2024, a window of opportunity for export: 48% of SME managers believe that the Olympic Games 2024 will be an opportunity to develop their business internationally

This edition of the barometer shows that French SMEs are ready to conquer new markets, provided they strengthen and "seniorize" their export sales teams. Despite a sluggish 2023, exports will pick up again in 2024, particularly to Western Europe.
